That's very nice looking. I really like the look of the Maple scales. Also, can I ask a question about the screws? Are there threaded female "collars" that fit tightly in holes drilled in the tang that they screw into? On some applications, I really like the look of the screw as well as the mechanical bond they provide. Though, I'm guessing they wouldn't work correctly with a tapered tang...?

Hi Jeremy

My tang is drilled and tapped. On most of my carbon knives I prefer a glue less mechanical fit so that the handle can come off for cleaning. No glue on a full tang will stop rust under the handle. And yes it can be done on a tapered tang.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the help, Tim. You've got my gears turning on how you manage to get the screws in correctly (straight) with the tapered tangs... You apparently have a good way to drill clearance sized holes in each scale perpendicular to the tang, after they're tapered?

Something tells me it's way easier than I'm making it in my head...    :knothead:   And great knives, by the way.

No probs. I also had issues with it until i figured out that you never drill a tapered tang. Drill first then do your taper. my process is:
1. profile & drill
2. HT
3. Grind bevels
4. handles then Polish/finish

Both look great.  I actually like the neck knife better.  Damascus looks beautiful, but I like dark matte finishes for knives I'm actually going to use a lot.
