I got a little break this summer away from Ediger & Son Daycare to put a couple knives together for this years hunting season and here is one of them. I used 1095, the blade is just under 4" in length with the overall length being close to 7.5". The handle is from an old hedge post from my great grandpas farm. I'm guessing the hedge post to be close to 100 years old.
I did the handle a bit different than any other knife in the past. I wanted an old look to the handle so instead of sanding the scales smooth I just carved them down with a pocket knife, leaving the carving marks exposed. Then I lightly sanded the scales to make sure there were no splinters. I kinda like how it turned out, pretty rough but just right for it's intended use.
