Sacked Leather Handle Rebuild
« on: August 26, 2017, 11:16:00 PM »
I just finished 2 Craftsman stacked leather handles for a friend, they belonged to his grandfather.

I stabilized the leather making a solid block and then installed them on the knives. I think they turned out pretty good!

Yeah those are beautiful.  You done a fantastic job on those handles.  If he doesn't really like the work you done, there's something wrong with him.

Those handles really look good. I have a question, but I don't know knife terminology, so please bear with me. Look at the third picture, please. It appears that that the pommel can be screwed down tight by using some sort of tool in the slots, Is that correct? If so, what kind of tool is used, and where can I get one? Thanks.

Sam, Sorry for the delay, I just saw your question. That is a steel Pop rivet, that is the way these knives were made originally made. On these knives you would have o drill out the rivet and install a new one to tighten up the handle.
