small checks in HHBback
« on: August 27, 2008, 08:10:00 PM »
I've made a few HHB bows and never had a problem with checking.I spray backs with sealer and that worked great until this lastest stave. The verticle checks are very small so my question is can I save this stave? I've never used a backing on my bows so not sure if that would help?
Thanks,
Bryan

I've had this problem a lot since I moved out here where it is very dry. If the checks aren't too big and don't run off the back of the bow I wouldn't worry too much. I have started wrapping my staves with plastic wrap to slow the dring.

A bit of super glue in them should help. If they are running with the limb and not running off the limb you should be OK.       Pat
