Carbon arrow spine ?
« on: February 04, 2008, 11:03:00 PM »
Hello all.  Im new here and have a question.  I have several Easton Excel 400 arrows 29in long that are spined to heavy for my 45lb recurve with 100gr heads.  My ? is if i add a 100 gr brass insert will this weaken the spine enough to use either a 125 gr  or 150 gr head and shoot well out of my bow?

Probably not! I'm guessing that you would need a 500 spine with a brass insert to get where you need to be.

I forgot to ask, what is your draw length? That can make a huge difference.-Pup

I shoot full length .600 with 100gr tips out of 42-44# bows with the same draw as you. If that helps. So I think you should be in the .500's if you want to add weight or .600's if you dont.
