takedown systems

ok guys,
   I've gotten stuck on buildng bamboo backed bows and would like to make one with a takedown system. I have to travel about an hour to hunt and a 66" bow in a single cab truck doesn't work well. Just looking for some ideas. what have you used, how did you like it, how easy was it to install, did it affect performance of the bow??
If you can even do this. I'm not sure if it would even work on a bamboo bow.

Adam, I made a BBO takedown using the sleeves from 3 Rivers. As it happens, the bow was given as a graduation gift to a friend's son and he has since broken one of the limbs. BUT, I hade another friend who broke a limb on a BBO he had so I used the good limb from that bow and repaired the bow I made. .Those sleeves are about your best bet I think. They come in round or "oblong". Check 3 Rivers under Bowmaking Supplies. You really can't make the bow first and then add the sleeves. You'll have to plan it as you go.

I second the sleeves. I have not used them on a BBO, but if you were thinking of useing a bow you already have made, I still don't think you would have too much of a problem as long as there is enough material in the grip area to work down to fit the sleeves.
This was a one piece selfbow that split on the upper limb, so I made a grip from 1" hard conduit and made another limb.

I saw one cut with a band saw on another site, that looked pretty easy to do.  he cut it at the handle then he bolted it back together like a take down limb
