Newbie glue-up question

Guys,

I have a question on glueing up 36" lams.  I am preparing to build my first laminated bow ever.  I am building a R/D longbow of my own design.  I have the Binghams longbow kit with the compression hose.  I have just about finished my form and have been thinking about the glue up process.

I have to butt two pairs of tapers together.

(1) What angle do I cut the tapers to mate them?  And whats the best way to make these cuts?

(2)  Is it hard to keep these butted ends from "pushing" apart from each other when the air is applied?  Is there a trick or technique to keep them mated together?

(1) Angle doesn't matter,as long as they are both the same.  Make it long enough to get some glue surface.About eveyyone I know of preglues the lams before the bow glueup. I grind mine ,both at the same time on the disc sander,just hold em together and grind both at once. Then lay a pc of plastic wrap on the edge of a 6' strait bench ,lay lams on topwith glue applied,fold plastic over and clamop with a small block. You can line the lams up along the edge of the bench to keep em strait. I use CA,but smooth on or probably other glues would work. Sorry so long winded!

Thanks Kenny.  That makes sense.  

I assume you don't have to put them inthe hot box?  Just clamp them and let them set maybe with a heat lamp on them for 4 or 5 hours?  Or is it even neccessary to heat them?  

When I do the final glue up, will the items that were glued up prior (such as these butted lams and the riser block) be affected by "reheating" them in the oven?

If you use super glue you don't need to heat and they will not be affected by the heat when you put the bow into your oven.

Smoothon will set in 24 hrs,a little heat will speed this up. I've never had a prob with risers delamming when the bow is glued up,but have never used it joining lams. I can't see it would be a prob.
