First time building a bow
« on: February 09, 2009, 07:39:00 PM »
My grandpa and I plan on building a 3 piece long bow. What kind of wood should I use? And where could I get some good information on how to build the bow, and what materials I'll need to build it. Any advise you guys can give me will help tremendously! Thanks

Jack

You can get all that you need from Bingham's here in Utah.

I guess if we run into the bear that is making these tracks, we oughta just get off the trail.......He seems to like it!

Can you give me some good ideas for wood to use? I'm new to Trad archery and I really don't know what would be a good wood to use.

A heavy dense wood like Cocobola or Ebony Ironwood makes good risers, bamboo makes for a good limb core.  Bingham's has a great selection and if memory serves me correctly they can tell you the pluses and minus' of some of the woods.  Also they have plans for all the things that go along with building recurves and long bows, from single piece to take downs.
Their number is 801-399-3470
