If I design a self bow properly, I should be capable of shooting it (off the knuckle) either right or left correct? Or did I just have a fantasy dream?

Generally when I make a bow to be raffled off I will make it ambidextrous. A pair of Ferret's floppy rests work well(and will protect your hand) for shooting off your hand.
