Hunter Recurve ?

I am getting an older Martin Hunter. Brand new in the bag! I am figuring late 80"s. It is non -fast flight i believe. Is there a way to make it fast flight? I am thinking of maybe customizing it a little. Grip, tips, snakeskins etc... Thanks.

there was a post a little while back of a guy doing just what you are talking about. what he did was sand the original tips back down to the fiberglass, then he glued back up using wood and a strip of phenolic. ill see if i can find it again and respond back.

My favorite "production Bow" - I ve had at least 6 over the years, and it is what I shoot currently.  The one I have now is about 20yrs. old.  When I got it- it was 75# -- I narrowed the limbs and took it down to 60.  I have use FF on dozens of bows over the years, and had a few split at the tips, early on.  Then I, started padding the loops w/ waxed dental floss, and never had a problem again. I have even just padded the loops w/ electrical tape, which works just as well, but looks just like you would expect-- loops wrapped in electrical tape.  You can modify the Bow tips w/ a variety of things like Phenolic overlays etc. but it really isn't neccessary--- I have shot 10,000's of arrows w/ff dental floss wrapped loops-- thats all the proof I need.

The Hunter was one of the most common hunting bows in Australia back in the 70's and they are still a good bow. You don't have to do anything to a bow to make it FF compatible, all you have to do is make the strings properly as has been suggested by padding to loops.
I make my FF flemish strings with two bundles only which keeps the loops bulkier than a 3 lay string and I add extra strands of dacron to further pad the loops.
I have never had a problem, I shoot FF on all of my laminated bows and selfbows, I haven't used a dacron string for 20 years and many of my selfbows don't even have tip overlays...Glenn...
