Finish over backing?

Hiya fellas, I just backed my bow and was wondering if a finish like tru-oil can be applied over top of the clothe backing?

Dave, I'll answer you here too....I usually put a thin layer of the glue over the cloth backing to smooth it out a bit before adding Tru-Oil or any other finish.
