string length question

my son has a long bow made by indian.it measures
62 3/4 long.we did not have a proper string
so we put mt string on my bow is 63in.i have
6in of brace on my bow but on his we have a tad over 2 1/2.can only a 1/4 in difference in lenght
change the brace that much?

The bow length is not the same as the string length.  On most longbows, the string should be four inches shorter than the distances between the nock measured along the back of the bow.  For your 62 3/4 inch bow, the distance between the nocks is probably less than 62 inches.  Thus, string length should be in the neighborhood of 58 inches.
