Any suggestions on where to find an affordable moisture meter? brand name? Paul<><

I would save my money and build a hot box and monitor the temp and RH and calculate moisture content with this calculator,

For example, keep your hot box at 70 degs. and a relative humidity of 50% and after a week or so you'll have 9% MC.

I bought a moisture meter years ago and never used it. I gave it to a friend last year so he could be sure his wood was not too dry. I go by sound and feel now.

I use mine all the time and several times on the stave as I reduce it. When I get a reading higher than I want I stop. Check with 3 Rivers. I bought the Mini Ligno directly from Woodworker's Wharehose which is now OTB. Jawge

got mine from inspectortools.com but I haven't used it for wood working. I have the basic 2 pin type but they are still no cheap. doesn't help much it's a place to look.

I have the pinless type, works very well. I use it a good bit and find wood that I am sure is dry isn't, especially thick wood.

I got one from three rivers,I think it will be usefull here in the humidity state of V.a.It says my hickory stave,on the outside is 10%,was cut just before atar08.Whoever dies with the most toys wins right?Box ideal makes sense too,to each his own.
