Boxelder?
« on: March 29, 2009, 07:50:00 PM »
Anybody ever use boxelder for bow wood? I may have a chance to cut one down soon. It looks to be about 12" around and fairly straight. Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Brent

Box elder(Acer negundo) is actually a maple. I believe it is a bit weak for bow making.

It's trash wood...doesn't even burn good. Although it's in the Maple family it doesn't have any of Maples strength or flexbility.
