Anybody ever made a fiberglass backed IPE board bow?  I am thinking of trying.

The 3rd bow i made was a 68" maple/walnut longbow, slighly reflexed and I backed it with a .040 black fiberglass strip.  It worked good...but it was only 41 lbs.....I assume the problem with this method is overpowering the belly.....I am actually suprised mine didn;t blow up...Ipe would me a much better candidate than my walnut...good luck

don't know much about board bows or the woods for them, but I collect older bows, and fiberglass backed lemonwood bows were practically a standard beginner bow in the 50's.   I've got several of them still hanging on my wall and shoot them regularly.  Can't see why the idea wouldn't still work.
