Titebond vs TBII vs TBII

any thoughts I alread have the regular. I am making a board bow and was gonna glue on a riser block and maybe some decorative tip overlays.

what is the diff between these?

I have only used TBII and have had no problems with it.

TB III is waterproof not just water resistant, and TB III give you longer working time. Both do the job. Check out their site.

i use a lot of TBII, and largely because it's most available.

the only joint failure i've had was one ash stave, bent still under tension around a curved riser block. it lifted just about as expected at the fade after a while. i really attribute this to the Padauk gluing surface anyway.

i'm pretty impressed with the glue. sorry, this doesn't allow me to offer any comparative oppinion.

I guess u have to use some common sense about this.
what conditions u will use the bow. I use a lot of
hide glue and I all ways use a water proof finish because it is NOT water anything !. Titebond is I believe not water resistant. TBII and III are resistant and proof respectively. But if u use a good waterproof finish u shouldn't have any problems.

I've been using TBIII exclusively and haven't had any problems at all.  I've glued on several risers and leather for the arrow shelf/shields mainly.  I just glued up some purple heart overlays on my latest bow and will start working them probably tonight.

TBll is a lot stronger; but TBlll is waterproof. I use TBll and rely on the finish for waterproofing.

I am trying my best to understand strength definitions of these glues.

From the website, they say TBIII has 4000psi strength.  And TBII has less, and TBI even less.

But they show wood failure as 57% for TBIII and over 70% for TBII.  I don't understand thier numbers.

Titebond vs TBII vs TBII   I think you'll find that TB2 is pretty much the same as TB2.  Sorry couldn't resist

I think they are saying there is less failure with the TBIII.

I use TBIII mainly when I need more glue up time, like box joints or dovetail joints. Even when applying snake skins, it gives ya more time to work the skin into place. The water proofing is a plus.

I only use TBIII on all of the projects that i work on from rocketry to model boats to bows and i have never had TBIII give out on me the wood has always broken first, and being water proof and so strong you and use it for what ever you need no matter what.
