IPE Boo Tiller help
« on: April 20, 2009, 11:33:00 AM »
Don't have pics, but here's what I got.  I floor tillered the bow and got a string on it, barely.  Not even braced .5".  Tips are reflexed about 2".

Put on the tiller tree, and she is only bending midlimb out to the tips.  Flexing the limbs about 8" of movement.

Ok, at this stage, should I get bending happening right out of the fades?

I see some guys right from the get go get thier limbs bending at fades on the long string and work thier way out to the tips over the tillering period.

First, make a tillering gizmo and get the rest of your limbs moving, then work on the fades.

Every time I got the fades moving first I ended up way under poundage after I had the rest of the limbs tillered. I do the fades last now.

Yep, got a tiller gizmo.  Guess I need to get more of a brace on it, to use it.  Can't tell much with 1" brace and flexing the limbs 8-10".

I am always surprised to see some tiller pictures of some of these reflexed tip bows and the huge bend at the fades.

Maybe it might be best to take pictures.  I really don't want to mess this one up.  The ground work getting it glued up took so much time.

Never mind. Just talked to the guy whose build I was trying to follow.  He said the picture where he was on long string, he messed up and took too much off at the fades and not to follow that one.

I will get rest bending and hopefully to brace this week.
