Stave cracks

I was wondering, after sealing the ends of a stave, are there some cracks to still be expected, or will the stave be crackless if properly sealed? By the way, I scored on my first traditional bowkill the other night..........A big nasty 15 pound lake norfork CARP!! Beggars cant be choosers!

if properly sealed, cracks will be minimal.

I seal the ends with wood glue. No problems yet.

Lots of people seal with wood glue, I prefer shellac, 3 or 4 thick coats.

Seal the ends are  well, as Shamus said and if the bark is removed,seal the back. Leave the split sides unsealed for the moisture to escape.
 What kind of wood are you talking about? There are different treatments for different woods.

It's still possible but there are ways ti deal with them and cracking should be minimal if sealed. Jawge
