HELP with handle on Tomahawk LB!

I have a Tomahawk 62" #45 Diamond SS that my father bought me a few years ago. I love the bow but I hate the grip, I'm curious if any of you have ever shaved a little off the sides and belly of a factory bow handle in order to make it fit your hand better. I've got small hands, (wear a size small glove)and thought about taking maybe just 1/16" to 1/8" off both sides and maybe 1/8 to 1/4" @ the deepest part of the grip in order to make it a little more like a low recurve grip. My thought is this is the same handle for any Tomahawk up to #70 so if I take a little off and mine's only #45 it should hold up. By the way the handle is cocobolo and phenolic. Thanks for any and all help/info.

It should be fine but do not touch the back of the bow. You should call 3 rivers and see if they would clean up the grip for you they are great people there.

Give Bill Foreman at Great Plains bows a call, he builds them for three rivers.  He would probably do it for a minimal cost.

I just did the same thing to a bow my Dad purchased in 1960.  As long as the handle was made with enough laminations, as his was, then shaving a bit of wood here and there should not effect it in the least.  
Agree with post above, don't touch the back fiberglass.
