handle wraps

ive posted a bow ive been working on. it has a bulbous handle ive been trying to figure out how to wrap it in leather. this handle has no arrow rest it is meant to shoot of the knuckle. can anyone show me how you have done your bulbous handle wraps.

Ruddy, I rarely use leather handle grips anymore but if done correctly, they look really cool. Lately I've been using hemp cord from Wally World wrapped around the handle and set in Massey finish. Makes a very comfortable and positive grip.
   A "Ferret's Floppy Rest" works very well with a bulbous handle when shooting off the knuckle.

Ruddy, I use 2ton epoxy but for Massey finish I don't think it matters.

Hey this seems like the right place to ask this... Has anyone ever tried burning designs in to the limbs of a bow? Does anyone have any ideas on this topic?

Ribbon style wraps seem to be easier to fit to heavily contoured shapes.  I have a hard time with laced wraps, but that would probably help fit a single wrap style, like the top pic.  Also, leather has a grain such that it will stretch more readily in a particular direction than another.  I try to figure that out as well, but depending upon how heavy it is this is of limited utility.

On rests, I see a lot that are a pretty prominent bump under the leather because they are left too tall. I use a glued on rest but file away most of the bump that will be under the leather to make it transition smoothly into the handle.

 

The end result is a neater handle with out the bump.

 

I make a wider rest but the same principle would apply to an antler tip, layered leather or any other rest placed under the handle leather.
