So a few weeks ago I foot a riser with Gabon Ebony and Lacewood. I had all kinds of hours in it and blah blah blah (see my post on Gabon Ebony Riser for pictures). Anyway, it broke. I think it was mostly due to a bad glue joint, but ultimately, the riser failed.
So there I was, with limbs that were already made and in good shape, and no riser to attach them to.
The limbs were for about an 80lb take down recurve bow. So looking over this site and doing a bit of research, I decided to buy dymondwood because it's basically a LVL. Well I have the riser roughly shaped, at least down to size (lots of sanding to do) and it didn't fail. I think I'm in love!
