Go to the lumber yard and buy some boards suitable for boardbows-Oak, Hickory, Ash etc. Forget the backing for now, and don't worry about wood type-anything will work for now.........read and do searches on pertinent stuff-lots of buildalongs here.
Go to george tsoukalis site-I may have misspelled-you'll find it anyway. Start doing stuff-assemble tools, and get busy tillering.
The first half dozen or more are going to break anyway; but that is how we learn. Then, and only then, call somebody like Ted at Raptorarchery.com and get a proper stave.

Hickory backed osage makes a great bow. I have built quite a few of them...but like Bjorn said, find lumber locally and read George's site. Actually, read George's site first. He will tell you what to look for in a good piece of lumber for bows.

Yeah, the 3 Rivers kit is for your 4th bow or something.  Jawge's site is awesome, and you'll have made a couple of hickory or redoak bows, so you know what you're doing with tiller, etc.

but what about the quality of the lumber? I'm thinking of importing some billets, to be backed with boo.

this will be pretty expensive as it'll have to be shipped overseas, to the netherlands

thanking in advance,

Nick
