Charles ,I used Lockwood powdered stain , Mahogany color. I mixed it with denatured alcohol.

I'm going to experiment with some Fieblings leather dyes, they are alcohol base, and available at Tandy. I already have red, orange, and yellow on hand. I use them on wood, bamboo and leather. I will start another thread here showing the results. Thanks for the info, and once again, that's an awesome bow.
