check out my new hunting bow for '09
« on: September 19, 2009, 06:00:00 PM »
Its 60" 55# and 50# @28"(two sets of limbs). Limbs are black glass with aboo cores and phenolic wedges and tips. Riser is solid 6061T6 aluminum.

It is the quietest bow I have ever shot and its the easiest to shoot as well. Also appears to have very good cast.

I wanted a tough bow that I did'nt feel bad about using like a tool. I had shot a few aluminum riser rigs and I wanted the extra mass weight too. This is the result. What do you think?

The camo dip job was done by Lonnie at Precision Hydrographics.I cant say enough about his service. He did 3 bows plus an extra set of limbs for me and the work was flawless. He also got them back to me in 4 days!

I hope the next posts show it next to some dead critters.

Dan, nice looking bow! One of my favorite recurves is the Bear Mag riser t.d. Did you build the limbs and machine the riser? Good shootin this Fall, Steve.

Thanks Steve. Yeah the extra weight of metal makes for an easy to shoot bow. I did build the limbs and the riser. No machineing tools just used the same tools I use to build all my wood bows. Had to buy a new bandsaw blade and a new tablesaw blade is all. Takes alot longer to shape a metal riser though.
