string grooves
« on: September 28, 2009, 04:22:00 PM »
wasnt there a thread on here not toooo tooo long ago, about how to cut string grooves.  I thought Doug C did it?   Not to sure though....

If memory serves, you'd cut acrossed the top, string it, and file in the sides where the string sat in the strung profile?

I'm not sure if it was on here, in tbm, bowyers journal...shoot.  I just remember it was a pretty super slick way at doing them without a jig!  My freehand attempts were pretty shotty at best and this as simple as it was really seemed to make them perfect every time.   Sorry got to thinking while I'm sittin at work answering phones again..snows falling...planes flying, kind of a busy day.....

Sounds like the technique that Eric Krewson uses.  If memory serves, he posted pics not too long ago either here or on the PA site.

I hadn't seen that post you guys are talking about. That's a pretty slick idea! I'm glad you asked that question Dan.
