building a long draw BBO?
« on: October 15, 2009, 10:24:00 PM »
I am building a bow for my daughters boyfriend and he is 6'4" with a 29.5 inch draw.  I am shooting for 50 at this drawlength.  What would be a good length and width at the fades with a 10 inch riser section?  I have never built a bow for someone with this wingspan before.

You should still be able to get that weight with 1-1/4" wide limbs. (at the fade) Bubby's formula says 66" bow. I agree. Take your time tillering.

I am 6'3", with 29.5" draw.  I built a IPE/Boo at 68" and 10" stiff section.  If I did it again, I would go 70".

Don't be afraid to go a bit long, it isn't like you will be overbuilding the bow at 66".

Tom has it figured just right in my humble opinion.
Are ya gonna post it when you build it?   It would be pretty cool to see.

66" should be fine, right now I'm shooting a 62"n/n hickory @ 53#/29"draw length that I built for this deer season, got lots of arrows thru it, just tack you're time and good luck
