hi guys, sorry i didn't post yesterday had computer problems. i didn't get a chance to shoot the bow, i was drawing the bow working the limbs when i heard a creek! i checked it out and found a mark beside a small knot in the belly. i checked it with my finger nail and i can feel a slight rise. the bow is still drawing to heavy so i was going to drop the draw weight abit and see how it goes. the bow still tillers well and i have worked the limbs since the i heard the noise but it hasn't happened again.    noel.                              thank for the post jawge, appreciate it   noel

That check came because it is bending a bit much at that knot. Remove wood from either side of that area but don't remove wood from there.
She is coming along nicely. How does she shoot?

hi pat, i didn,t get to shoot her yet(lots of flexing but no arras yet). i know what mean about the knot so i'll give her try later to day,i just glued up another hickory, ipe, just in case this one dont make the grade. the last one i made turned out pretty good, i was going to take some pictures to let you guys see it. i was drawing it to show my brother when it blew up on me.it had the same problem as this one knot in the belly. ipe is a tough wood to read until you get right into it and then its to late. anyhow thanks for the help pat hopefully i can work around the knot without doing any damage.    noel

hi guys, thought i would let you guys know whats happening. i took my bow to my brothers place to shoot some arras. i was very leery about the knot in  the belly of the lower limb, and sure enough first full draw "bang" she exploded. the good news is no damage to the shooter, i got another glued up and ready to start. maybe i'll have better luck this time, and with you guys helping me this one might last a bit longer lol.     noel

Glad to hear no one was hurt, it seems to happen a lot with Ipe.
