CA Glue and Wood Hardener
« on: November 20, 2009, 05:28:00 PM »
Does anybody know if the chemical make-up of wood hardener (such as Minwax's) is close enough to that of CA glue to make it useful for sealing wood with it?  I've often used CA glue to seal brown paper backings, but thought maybe the wood hardener would be easier and cheaper.  Thanks for your help.

TiteBond is cheap, easy and readily available and works well for paper, cloth, snake skin or wood backings.

Thanks, Pat.  I only use TBIII for applying my backings, but often use super glue to seal the brown paper once the TBIII has dried/cured.  Alternately, I've used watered down TBIII to seal the paper, which works great, but I like the clear finish super glue provides.  I was hoping that Minwax's Wood Hardener product would serve the same function.

I'm not familiar with that product but I believe any finish should work well for this. I'm sure most are compatible.
