Jatoba?

Would jatoba or purple heart work for a board bow? Would they work with a hickory back.?

i have made two from jatoba.  it makes a great bow.  i hear you can make it as a self bow, but mine were both hickory backed.  purple heart is too brittle unless you use bamboo and even then its about 50% chance it will break.

Thanks. Was thinking of backing it with hickory any way. If I get the purple I will just have some in the handle for looks. Thanks again.
