Back on the bowyers bench making a bbo YEEEHA
« on: December 12, 2009, 07:40:00 AM »
It's been about six maybe even seven years since I built my last bow. I finally found all my old tools and ordered some bamboo and osage a couple days ago.   :banghead:

Thanks,

Hi ya Eric ol buddy!!!   :bigsmyl:   Sounds like a good project. Shorter lower limb depending on the balance. Here'a a link for a help calculator. Uses temp and humidity to calc MC. Not sure how long you'd have to keep it at that range to achieve the right MC, prolly a few weeks.

Good morning Dano,

Good to hear from ya, I know MC is important. Get it to low and you got a wooden shotgun just waiting to go off, get RH to high and you'll build a limp noodle of a bow. I use to controlled my drying box with a hydrometer and thought 30% RH for bamboo or hickory backed bows is the optimum RH that will make the snappiest backed bow bow that wont explode or take set if worked right.    :D   Pigseye, Good beer if you haven't had any for several months or years   :bigsmyl:

Cooter, maybe you can get Ol' George to help you.  I haven't heard from either of you in ages.  Chad
