Cascade TD Limb Pocket Felt (Dampening)
« on: December 28, 2009, 08:29:00 AM »
Morning Gents,

I just got a nice Cascade Golden Falcon Mag bow 60@28.  Pretty bow that shoots well, but its loud, even with dacron string (flemish 14 strand I just twisted up last night), qivuit silencers and limb savers.  Personally, I want to get rid of the limb savers.  I took the limbs off and the felt is basically completely compressed providing NO cushioning.  The limb bolts also recess into the limb instead of sitting flat.  I think the limb pockets need new felt or perhaps a silicon layer (like on the Robertson I had). Am I right about this and what kind of felt should I use?  Also, is there a place I could buy that silicon?

Thanks!!
God Bless,
Erik

I have a Lowe's hardware store near me that carries sheets of cork that is a little less than 1/8" thick.  Maybe you could try there for something usable?

Not sure about the felt but it seems to me like the felt has the potential to hold moisture in an often-time neglected area on a bow.

I used felt from wally world on the limb platform for years.  As far as I know it has never caused a problem.  I put the felt on after the riser has the final coat of finish.

Walley World also has foam rubber in the arts and crafts section near the crayons. It's about a foot square and may cost $2. I have used this for years. It's kind of like putting a limbsaver between the limb and riser. Don't let the thickness scare you, it crushs down nicely to nearly paper thin.
