Think I changed my mind again... (Urac 185)
« on: December 31, 2009, 04:36:00 PM »
Well, I thank you all for helping me with the TBIII problems but I've had a change of heart. I think now that I'll just get some Urac 185. So just to be sure, does it need air to dry? If it does, I'll just stick with TB. Does it need a hot box to cure full strength? Or can I cure it in my house at room temp? Also, what glue surfaces does it need? Can I sand the lams with some 60 grit or do they need a hacksaw blade? Thanks! And I apologise for potentially wasting some of your others time with the TBIII questions. Thanks again! I really appreciate all the help you guys have given me.

Doesnt need air and doesnt need heat.  I use it all the time when my joints are perfect on my ipe/boo glue ups.
I humbly follow in the learned footsteps of those who precede me.

Forgot one thing, how do the lams need to be prepped? Sand them or run a hacksaw blade over em?

60 grit is fine

You can use heat on two part glues but URAC and Resorcinol will cure fine at room temp. Two hours with mild heat and overnight with room temp. 60 grit sanding is fine. The wood will break before the glue joint.
