bow woods?
« on: January 02, 2010, 10:01:00 PM »
where to get them?  i have a chance to build my own bow on a friends jig.  i have always wanted to build one.  i want to keep it cheap and simple.  i was thinking bocote riser and zebra--figured they would be fairly common and hopefully cheaper-- limbs with either, red, black and maybe some white phenolic or maybe some black and tan phenolic and going to have horn tips.  most likely going to have action boo limbs.  i would like to try carbon, but have no clue where to get it and it probably costs an arm and a leg.
so my question is where can i find some wood at a fairly cheap price.  it does not even have to be perfect.  i just wanna see if i can do it.

throw out some good looking ideas with the 2 woods i have mentioned.

Cheap and simple would be black glass, zebra  riser looks really good with it too.
has black & white phenolic & zebra  on tips and black & white glass & zebra overlays on back at riser
I have red elm edge grn lams still on sale for 12.00 a pair. I can't tell any diff in it and A-boo JMHO

Here is what the bows look like and tested for weight and speed also...

OOPS, I need to read closer, missed the zebra limbs part!

Actually the diff in zebra and bocote lams for a bow would only be 4-6 bucks per bow. You might as well get what you want!!  :D
