String Making Jig

Has anyone ever made a string making jig if so could you post some pics and tell me how to make one.

Tyle, yes I made one years ago, from a scrap piece of wood and some paneling nails. Nothing fancy, but usable! I got the instructions from an old Archery mag.

Check out the how-to section, there is one on there. Really you can use two nails in a 2x4 at a certain distance, and then stagger the strands about a 1/4", for the taper.

I add 12" to the actual bow length, you can start at about 16" and go from there!

Check out Sam Harpers site, Poorfolkbows.com. He's got a build along for flemish strings and the jig. Just scroll down till ya find it.

I used the plans that pditto613 posted and it works great.

Making strings is actually pretty simple when you learn how.  Took me awhile to even try to back twist them because 'they work' even when that technique isn't used.  After I learned to use a back twist with my strings I promise you that I'll never go back to not doing it.  

My strings may not be the prettiest or world's best string, but at the distances that I shoot, I seriously doubt that it matters.
