Thanks Osage and Jack

The belly grove is because that bow was made from syringa and has a large natural pith center. Syringa makes great arrows and sometimes you can find it big enough for a bow.
I'll try to post some specs on some of them and maybe do a buildalong on something.

Very nice bows Steve.

I like your arrow rests too. A build on that would be good too.

Thanks!

David, I love the looks of your 60" selfbow.  I recently finished a 60" red oak board bow but it is only 30-33# @ 27".  How can I get a 60# bow at 60"?  Is it the wood?  My bow is a 60" flatbow, almost a pyramid bow.  The limbs are 1/4"thick tapering from just under 2" at the fades to 1/2" at the nocks. I followed the instructions on a build-along by Sam Harper and used sheetrock tape as a backing (all my other attempts over the years broke...I was more or less desperate) The bow looks great, shoots well, but isn't strong enough to hunt with.
Thanks,
Stan

PS Can you tell I'm new at this bow making?
