Which limb
« on: January 18, 2010, 01:46:00 PM »
Ok which limb should be slihjtly stronger than the other on a board bow. I am finishing the tillering on a oak pyramid bow (thanks 4Est) and one limb is a little stronger than the other. Just want to make sure I put the arrow rest on the right end.

The bottom limb should be a bit stronger. Have you shot this bow much? If not, put 100 arrows through it before you decide which limb will be the bottom.

Hi Pat.
No i havn't shot it yet. Just getting to cutting the handle on it and checking the tiller at a low brace. I think it is pretty good at the moment but will see how it looks after a bunch of arrows. Wife lost the camera or I would have some pics posted. Have to see what I can do.

If you have exercised the limbs as you removed wood you might not notice a difference after 100 shots. If you have not done the exercises you will notice a difference. If you haven't exercised your limbs, be sure to check out the tiller after each shot.

I have been exercising the limbs 20-30 times after each wood removal and have about 1 1/2" of string follow. Will cut the handle today and try to shoot it some.

Hey Ray.
Iwas just looking at that bow this morning and realized I have had it a year now. Got to get off my but and finish it up. It is 80% done so I just need to do the last fiddly stuff. I don't think the cracks have gotten any worse so I bet I'll end up with some sort of stick flinger out of it. Still have some files to send your way. When I get off my but I'll get that done to.
