This is the roughed shaped riser for a bow I donated to an E-Mag as their major end of year prize.

Still have a lot of hand sanding to do to it but I so far I think it is coming along nicely.

The main wood is Shedura with home made green and gold phenolic and 3 maple accent strips.

The true colors will really stand out when I get it sanded down and the finish on.

That riser really looks cool, I like the color combo. I bet that gold and green phenol will come out nice when the finish is on.

How did you do the "home made" green and gold phenol stripes ?

Nice looking riser- I was also going to ask about the phenolic- I've made some out of blue jean material and resins before- haven't used any on a bow- just knife handles and pens.

Thanks for the kind words guy's.

The Phenolic is easy to make it's just fabric and epoxy compressed.

I have a build a long of it in the current issue of the E-Mag. but will post it here as well.

Great looking riser.  I can't wait to see it finished.

Could you PLEASE post your method of making the home made phenolic?!  I've never heard of making it yourself, that sounds really interesting.

Does it matter what type of fabric?  What kind of epoxy do you use, Smooth On?
