Bow blank for Ron!
« on: February 18, 2010, 08:42:00 AM »
ron w wanted me to post some photos of his blank that is ready to ship, since he is not sure about the photo posting thing.  She is a 66" Cumberland (straight longbow) which will finish at 47@29.  Zebra and osage in the riser, boo cores, and eastern red cedar lams.  She is a beauty!

Very nice as usual, Marty. Couple questions, is that 2 parallel lams of boo and 2 parallel of cedar? Did you use the short boo flooring and join the lams at the riser?

Those ERC lams look great. Ron, I'm sure you'll post pics once you git-r-done!! Curious as to what you're going to use for the finish.

Glad you like her Ron!

All four lams are tapered .001 per inch.  All the lams are 36" long and have to be joined.  I glue them together prior to lay up.

I'm thinking of using Deft as a finish [satin], I have had good luck with that in the past. Just got to do a good job in the prep stages...

Marty, just curious, is this (an unfinished blank) something that anyone can order, or was this just a special deal? I'm curious cause I might be interested in getting one myself. I looked on your website, but didn't see any mention of unfinished blanks. Thanks in advance for the info.

jchunt4ever, Just send Marty a PM and he can answer all your questions. He had them advertised on the sponsors classifieds for a bit. Marty is very helpful and will build you a bow to your specs, with woods that you want. He has a good sense of what looks good and what works together.
