I went to my osage fence post guy and grabbed a few decent posts over the weekend. I did pretty good this tome and all are bug free. Two logs yeilded about six premium stave and about ten good staves. Here are a few pics I wanted to share.

I like totry to aim right for a branch so I can maxamize the usable wood. Asharp hand axe helps to direct the split. Of course straight grain trumps all that.

You have no Idea how lucky you are to have access to osage. To get split staves here is just a dream. We are lucky to find a board.
Alberta is great for Wheat and Barley, and crude oil, but bow trees are a diferent matter. .

Bet that was easy with the young helper you show in the pics. He did all the work and you're trying to take all the credit!
Nice haul,,, how long ago were they cut? Ends don't look checked at all.

I cut them down on sunday feb 28. I didn't get to seal them until the next day so I cut them plenty long at 76in.
