apron for protection question
« on: March 04, 2010, 12:02:00 PM »
I am tired of getting splinters and wearing holes  in the knees and thighs of my pants. My wife is  teried of me me bringing osage shavings in the house. I'm REALLY tired of taking my pants off outside! I need something to fix this problem andi am leaning towards a heavy leather apron that will cover me while I sit on my building bench.  I will post a pic later.

I hope the picture isn't of you with your pants off outside!  :scared:

I wear an apron all the time in the shop all the time.  I too have been looking at the leather ones and will probably bite the bullet on one eventually.  I'd like to see one first though - don't really want something that is too heavy.

I like to sit with a stave on top of my leg so I need something that will cover me and still allow comfortable movement. I had one other pic but have been asked not to show it. ;-)

This could be what you are looking for.  It is a Welding apron, but it is leather and it is cheap.  This is the link to the combo package that they have, but I have seen the apron alone for I think 5.00.  Might be a local store thing and the only option they have on line is the combo.  They seem to do things like that.

I second the Harbor Freight one.  I have that apron and use it when grinding knives.  It comes down to about my knees and has several pockets on it to hold small tools.  Also very low price.
