twisted limb on a board bow

i got a longbow kit that is, ipe with a hickory backing. after i glued the backing on i notice the the ipe had a twist in it, i knew it wasnt good but i keep going anyway. well after i got the limbs cut out you really notice the twist in the limb now. (my limbs are a little too narrow so thats not helping) is there any way i can get it out ? i thought about trying to soak the wood or putting some steam on it and twisting it the other way. or should i just put it in the trash.

Heat/water/steam and glue don't go well together. Maybe you can take it out messing with the tiller?

dont think i am going to be able to get it out with the tiller. i tried but it didn't seem to help. thanks for the reply

What glue did you use?

i used titebond, which i bet not going to go good with either the steam or the water

You can heat up the backing strip and the TB glue will release at 150deg (F). I did it with a heat gun.I started at the tip and worked a chisel into the joint and separated it as I heated down the bow. Then you can clean up the surfaces and re-glue it up untwisted.

Also, Ipe, like other tropical woods don't react well to heat, wet or dry so trying to straighten it with heat is ineffective.
