Best Serving Jig?

I'm trying to take my personal strings to the next level. I do endless loop so I spend 90% of my time serving. (Will soon try Flemish)

I've been working with a red plastic something-or-nother that cam with a Bohning Kit for compounds.
It's what I would call your standard "3-hole" type, where you thread the serving through 3 different holes then out a top hole.


I hate the thing.  Maybe it's me, but I've tried every combination of routing the serving through the holes (including the "right" way). I've changed the way I hold the thing...everythig I can think of and it is still useless in regards to keeping an even tension.


So what do you guys recommend?

i made my own from a few scraps of wood, it turned out similar to a thread spool in a frame with a bolt and spring drywall anchor to apply pressure. it threads through one hole in the top thats in the middle of a slight groove, i use it for all kinds of stuff.

its not fancy but i can get as much tension/slack as i want.
