bow #8 makore veneers
« on: April 27, 2010, 09:37:00 PM »
Building a longbow for a friends 16 year old daughter, she has shot trad bows for years and is very strong for her size. I'm using a bubinga riser, amberboo tapers and mottled makore veneers..hoping for low 40's @ 28". bow is in oven cooking at 165 degrees until midnight.. the makore looked great when the smooth on hit it..

Thanks, I hope Zoey likes it, the bubinga riser has a slight pink color to it..don't have good pics, need new camera.. Kenny it shoots great, note the 2 bare shafts in the "group". this one is off the form I made using the long bow template I got from you..no power wedges in this one..I need to order some more 1 1/2" amberboo tapers from you..next week?

thanks, this one is KennyM's 64" design and it does shoot nicely. 16 year old Zoey is getting this bow Sunday.. I adjusted the brace down to 7 3/16" and it shoots great...next build (recurve) will have Pomelle Sapele veneers and "striped" Sapele riser..already have riser cut out, just have to add glass to it..

Yes, she borrowed a couple of wood arrows. Zoey shot it very well and I hope she continues to pratice, She is now in the Adult class at our TBOF shoots..so she has to compete with the big girls now!!
