Glue

I have used the crystal hide glue to glue on rawhide backing before,am looking to use a different glue. Tite-bond 3 and liquid hide glue both say that the surfaces should be dry.I want to wet the rawhide so it forms better to the back of the bow. Anyone used these before ? and did the rawhide have to be dry ?

when applying snakeskins to a bow, you soak the skins to make them pliable to form to the bow, and you can use titebond3 for this. ive found when gluing snakeskins to other things that when you wet them first the wet skins allows the titebond to mix with the water and soak into the skins, making a better bond. id guess that for rawhide you can do the same, as long as you size the bows back with titebond first, and make sure theres not too much excess water in the rawhide.

I have used Titebond 3 for gluing rawhide, skins, and sinew and always moisten them before.  It does great.  For sinew I even thin the TB3 in water and then lay it down.
