Zebra Osage
« on: June 10, 2010, 08:48:00 PM »
I just finished this osage selfbow.  It is 64" ntn and 55lbs @ 26".  I used PatB's tissue paper backing trick.  There was a knot near one tip and some other humps and dips that I had to work around, but the tiller ended up pretty good.  I will be shooting this bow at Cloverdale this weekend.

That's pretty cool.  What is PatB's tissue paper backing trick?

The backing is tissue paper glued on with watered down TB3.  The paper wrinkles and tears very easy as soon as it hits the glue, so it can be hard to get it on straight.  Also, the paper isn't long enough for the entire limb, so you have to match up the pattern and splice it.  Here is a picture of it in progress.
