Bow finish, paraffin or true oil?

I'm almost ready to seal a hickory longbow that is backed with sinew also has some rawhide in the handle area.

I usually use true oil on bamboo and Ipe. Would the paraffin applied with a heat gun be a better choice.

I'd be afraid to use a heat gun neat the sinew. I  used Tru-Oil on the sinew backed bows I've built. I've added Massey finish first on a few but but don't think it made any difference.

Hickory is water sensitive. That is it reacts to humidity and rain. Wax is OK for osage, but I would stick to a more resistant finish on hickory - truoil or even shellac.
