Mulberry selfbow (video)
« on: June 20, 2010, 06:45:00 AM »
Okay, I think I'm straight on this. I've gone down the list of rules and I do not violate any of the policies. With all seriousness I do not want to violate the forum rules. I just want to share these videos that were fun to make and I think useful for those making bows.

I get asked all the time how to make a selfbow. That is a complex question to answer so I decided to make a video to help people get started and hopefully give a few new, or different, tricks for those already making bows.  It will be a multipart video series, but parts 1 and 2 are available for viewing now so be sure to check out both. I hope you enjoy.

There will be NO commercial sales allowed. -- nope

NO showcasing of bows for sale. -- nope

NO sales commerce of any kind. -- nope

NO posing links for sales. -- nope

NO hinting of bows for sale. -- nope

This forum is for the making and showing of crafted trad bows by Trad Gang Members ONLY!!!  -- absolutely

Sponors and Assoc Sponsors of Trad Gang are allowed to post pics, build alongs, and sale notices. Please post your bow ads on the Sponsors's Classifieds.  -- understand

Any suspect threads for sales outside this scope will be removed, and could result in your posting privileges being revoked. -- okay

Hope that is clear, and you guys have fun. Looking forward to viewing your work. -- I think I'm good to go.

Hello Jimmy,
This is a great idea.  If I may suggest an observation: in your first video you started, after the introduction, right in to the details of laying the bow out in a very focused manner.  It may be beneficial for your inexperienced audience to widen your camera's focus to show them the whole stave, the medium of your work, and give an over all explaination of what you will be performing on it to make a bow.  Then when the camera is solely focused on the handle, fades, etc... the interested viewer will have a better grasp of what they are looking at.  A bigger picture, in other words or a synopis of the lesson.
Please don't think I am critical of your efforts as they will help many folks and it is a good compilation of the bower's craft.
