A new life for a Ben Pearson Mustang
« on: June 27, 2010, 06:33:00 AM »
Here is another refurbished Ben Pearson Mustang that will get a new life. This bow was in a poor shape especially the backing limbs. I sanded the backing limbs way down and covered it with a fake snake skin. I also put new tips on this bow.

LjT,

I got the fake snake skin from Rudderbows. This is the link:  http://216.119.68.89/store/index.php?main_page=index&zenid=86005eff2b4c0341aa804280602137fd
I applied 5 coats of Tru-oil on the riser and belly limbs as well on the tips. The fake snake skin received just one coat to maintain the "roughness"of the skin.

Excellent job..those skins do look pretty sharp...are they actually under the overlays?

The skins are just under the overlays.
I sanded the skins flush with the glass just a bit further where the fades of the overlays come and then put the overlays on.
