1967 Bear Kodiak Hunter Limb Twist
« on: July 09, 2010, 03:04:00 PM »
I Just recently Purchased a Bear bow off **** and the guy said the bow was not twsited. I recieved it and off course there is a slight twist in the bottom limb. Ive read on here that just by twisting it by hand works.Im not sure what I wanna do. Send it back to the guy or try and fix it? The bow is awesome and what i was looking for. Any ideas? If anyone fixes bow and could help please email.
Thanks

P.S. I also go the bow for a pretty good price.

Just twist it by hand while strung to start with.  Twist it and hold it past straight a few times until it holds.  Shoot it a while.  If it doesn't hold repeat.  Maybe some dry heat from a hair dryer would be the next step.  It's really not very hard, and wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.  I would let the seller know about it though, in case he plans to sell any more bows.

I have used the hot tap water method instead of my heat gun. It worked well and removed the chance of scorching the limb. I sometimes do that with my heatgun on selfbows :-( the was an article about it in an issue of tbm last year. Helped me out

It wasnt super twisted to begin with but ive heard not to use water...Its still slightly twisted but still shoots well. I think overtime if i just keep bending on it, it will go back to center.
