Laminating a Blank ??
« on: July 22, 2010, 08:31:00 PM »
Hi All,

One of the "someday" projects I've wanted  to do is a Holmgaard style bow.  Having worked in a cabinet shop, we laminated all kinds of blanks to make pieces for individual projects.  I'm wondering if I could not do something similar in assembling a blank for a Holmgaard.

A couple of pieces of maple (as an example) for the handle, two pieces of wide flat stock about a foot and a half long for the working section, and a couple of pieces of ash for the non-working tips.  Put a good glue into the mix and I'd get a nice bow blank without starting with a three inch square stave six feet long.

Anyone do something like this??
